Psalm 40:11-12
11Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O Lord;
Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me.
12For innumerable evils have surrounded me;
My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up;
They are more than the hairs of my head;
Therefore my heart fails me.
-Psalm 40:11-12
There is a state that we all of believers have come to recognition of our sin in this same way. The Holy Spirit convicted you and you examine your life looking back and seeing all the iniquity you have committed. It can be overwhelming seeing the innumerability of your sin. In desperation you cry out to the Lord, reaching your hand out from drowning waters and BAM! The Lord reaches out and picks you up, washing you completely and utterly clean.
How worthy is the Lord of praise? He has not held back His tender mercies. He has let His lovingkindness and truth preserve us. We are made completely new. While there was a point that we cried out in desperation, now we come and cry out in praise, rejoicing in the freedom the Lord has brought us. Think back on your own testimony and how the Lord has brought you out of darkness and into marvelous light. Rejoice in Him for His goodness.
