Psalm 32:10-11

    10      Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;
    But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him.
    11      Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous;
    And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
-Psalm 32:10-11

Sometimes it can feel ironic or almost contradictory as we read through the psalms and see the many perspectives on the state of the wicked. In one verse it would seem they only prosper, yet in another they are sorrowful. The reality is that the wicked, though it may seem they do well, have an end of destruction. Everything it is they have worked for, dreamed of, or wished upon is vain. The same cannot be said for the one who trusts in the Lord.

In our trust of the Lord we receive mercy and are surrounded by it. We have gladness and joy because our pursuit of the Lord is not in vain. We have an eternal reward waiting for us, an inheritance incorruptible. As those who were once found wicked, what response should we have to this but to shout for joy? Our hearts are pure in the sight of God and we are found righteous! We no longer work for things that perish but for something imperishable. We go from a place of meaninglessness to eternal meaning. Meditate upon the fact that you have been made right in the sight of God and rejoice in the work of His Son Jesus.
