Psalm 32:8-9

    8      I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    I will guide you with My eye.
    9      Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
    Which have no understanding,
    Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
    Else they will not come near you.
-Psalm 32:8-9

This is the response the Lord gives to the previous verses about repentance. As we lead a life of repentance and pursuit after the Lord, He actually serves as our teacher. This is not to say that we ought to avoid all human teachers, but we are instructed by the Lord. We are guided by the eye of the Lord who sees all things. As we traverse this maze of life the Lord lays out our steps before us.

We are given a very interesting set of instruction to not be as the horse or mule. These are typically seen in Scripture as representative of stubbornness. Do not be so stubborn in trying to walk out your own way and attempt to walk this on your own strength when you have the Lord eager and willing to instruct you. Do not let your pride rise up so strongly that you neglect the Lord's instructions. Cherish those deeply and walk freely in them. For in their liberty you have strength.
