Psalm 24

1      The earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell therein.
2      For He has founded it upon the seas,
And established it upon the waters.

3      Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD?
Or who may stand in His holy place?
4      He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,
    Nor sworn deceitfully.
5      He shall receive blessing from the LORD,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6      This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him,
    Who seek Your face.
Selah

7      Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
8      Who is this King of glory?
    The LORD strong and mighty,
    The LORD mighty in battle.
9      Lift up your heads, O you gates!
    Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
10      Who is this King of glory?
    The LORD of hosts,
He is the King of glory.
-Psalm 24

The Lord still has dominion over all the earth. Many have written this off since the devil is recognized as being "the god of this world." However, that does not mean that the devil has complete dominion over all the earth. It belongs to the Lord and all that is within it. While the Lord rules over the earth, the question beckons, "Who can come before the Lord?"

As with kings, princes, presidents, or whatever high position may come to your mind, most of these people seem almost unapproachable due to their status. So for One who created and rules over all things, who can approach Him? The one with clean hands and a pure heart that has not lifted their soul to an idol.

What amazes me about this is that it encompasses all who are in Christ Jesus. We have been made clean and pure. Just as 1 John 1 points out, that as we have confessed our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We worship the Lord in sincerity and in truth. As those who can then approach the Lord, we also shall join with Him in His triumph and dominion.

How then shall we apply this to our lives? First, understand that above all else, the earth is truly the Lord's. He has absolute power. Second, be all the more diligent to make your call and election sure (2 Peter 1). Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling (Phil. 2). Do not take this lightly. Put your trust and hope in the Lord and pursue Him exclusively.
