Hebrews 4 | What am I going to do about it?

Kneeling At The Throne of Grace

The actionable step is undoubtedly to follow through with what is written. Come boldly before the throne of grace. We do this in prayer, worship, and in diving into the word of God. Given that this application is so clearly driven, I want to focus my attention on the approachability of this throne.

The throne room experience would be a terrifying one. To approach a king in those days was no light matter. The wrong move could leave your head rolling, just ask John the Baptist. Many of us may face this kind of fear when it comes to approaching the Lord. Sin enters in and we feel like we need to make things right before we come to the King. O how we have missed the very point of what is being said! What is the throne of? The throne is of grace! Our King sits upon the throne of grace! When we are in need of grace, to what wellspring shall we draw from? Shall we draw from the world? Shall we draw from ourselves? Shall we draw from our friends, pastors, or mentors? Or shall we come before the King of it all to receive that which we need?
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)
-Ephesians 2:4-5
When we consider the mercy of God, how often do we think we are scraping the bottom of the barrel to gain but a bit more from Him? See how He is rich in mercy! He is not running low on account of you. His Kingdom is founded with grace and we are implored to approach that throne with boldness to find mercy and grace to help in time of need. If it were to be such a burden upon the Lord that we would come before Him in this way, why would He, in His word, declare such an invitation? We are welcomed because of the blood of Jesus to approach this throne with boldness. So let us then approach.

What application are you implementing today?
