John 7:1-13 | What am I going to do about it?

12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. 14 If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters. 16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.
-1 Peter 4:12-16

Rejection, persecution, and trials still have the ability to catch me off guard. This is something the Lord has recently pressed upon my heart. The reality is that I like to be liked. I don't really know anyone who doesn't. But the question is beckoned, "Do I live for the approval of man or God?"

It is a strong biblical principle that we will suffer for doing good. It is not a matter of if but when. And how does Scripture say we should handle it? We should rejoice that we are worthy to partake of Christ's sufferings. Now this is something I really need to apply. The enemy knows what a weapon discouragement is and wants to keep us from rejoicing and praising. He also knows what a tool that is for the believer. So I must rejoice all the more. I must turn rejection into praise unto the Lord.

What application are you implementing?
