5 Day Reading Plan - New Study

Starting on Sunday, May 4th, we will be introducing a new devotional reading plan. This is a 5 Day plan that will conclude on Day 6 with various prayer prompts. I encourage you to follow the promptings in your own study and adopt this practice for your own daily practice as well. We can do this together as I will share my notes with you! I will explain below how this will work.

Day 1
  • What is happening (and who's involved)?
    • In a paragraph, note big moments in the passage, who's involved, as well as a main idea (if applicable).

Day 2
  • What's the connection?
    • Note how the passage/chapter connects to the surrounding text (context). Also, note how it connects to the rest of the Bible.

Day 3
  • What is a lesson for the original audience?
    • In a paragraph, zoom in on an important moment and explain what the original audience needed to understand.

Day 4
  • What's the lesson for me today?
    • In a paragraph, explain what you need to understand from the same lesson in Day 3.
      • (Hint: the principles should not change from past to present, only the application)

Day 5
  • What am I going to do about it?
    • Write down any action steps that you will take in order to respond to the lesson of the passage.

On the sixth day, I will send out various prayer prompts that have to do with the above study. Each day should be accompanied with prayer in what the Lord is revealing to you through this passage. Each day will be going over the same text as we explore it in further depth.

The first book we will go through in this study is the Gospel of John. I look forward to doing this study with each of you.
