Hebrews 5:1-11 | What's the lesson for me today?

Jesus Is Enough

Just as the lesson clearly demonstrates to the original audience that Jesus is enough, so also does that lesson reflect back to us. It is important that we recognize that we still needed a mediator between us and the Father. We have direct access to the Father through the Son.
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
-John 14:6
We would not have the access we do to the Father had it not been for the work of the Son. Just as the high priest would serve as a mediator between God and the people of Israel, so our High Priest, Jesus Christ, mediates between us. He offers Himself as that sacrifice for us to be clean as we are presented before the Father.
26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.
-Ephesians 5:26-27

19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
-Hebrews 10:19-22
The lesson is an invitation. Our High Priest is available to us. Will you go to Him? He suffered and can help you in your suffering. He was tempted and is able to help you in your temptation. He need not sacrifice for Himself. What He has to offer is thoroughly for you. Jesus is enough. Our response is one where we are then called to obey. We look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. We see that He has set the example for us to walk and so now, we walk in like manner with Him.

What lesson are you taking from today?
