Galatians 3:26-29 | Sons of God

26You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.
-Galatians 3:26-29 BSB
Our identity in Christ is one of the most important topics in all of Scripture. So much hinges upon it. There were promises given to Israel, that if you were not Israel, you did not receive. Similarly, there are promises for the believer. If you do not belong in identity to Christ, then you are not His.

In today's passage, we are given a very important identity. We are called sons of God. An important note must be addressed here. See how Paul goes on to say that there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female? The purpose that this gets across is that being a son of God has nothing to do with gender. This is everything to do with position.
The Greek would not be one to receive the inheritance. Neither would the slave receive the inheritance. Neither would the females. It was the sons who received the inheritance. Being that, by faith, we belong to Abraham, and now by identity, we belong to God as His sons, we can receive the promises therein.

It is this very fact that has led me to begin studying the Scriptures to see what promises we may have in Christ Jesus. One of my mentors growing up had a bit of a pet peeve among believers. He highlighted how they constantly talked about holding on to the promises of God but when he asked what promises, they couldn't give any. Brothers and sisters in Christ, we have amazing promises through Jesus. Do we know what they are? I encourage you to seek out what promises the Lord has given and see what inheritance we receive by faith in Jesus!

What promises are you holding on too?
