Hebrews 13:15-25 | What's the connection?

As the writer of Hebrews rounds off his closing statements he gives some final points of Christian conduct that the reader ought to follow. But the bridge to get us there is a "therefore."

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that confess His name.
-Hebrews 13:15

Whenever we see a therefore, we must find what it is there for! Remember what we have just gone through. There were warnings against following false teachers as well as recognition of what Jesus had done and the humility He expressed. Reflecting upon Jesus and His sacrifice, the readers as instructed to continually offer a sacrifice of praise. The goal of the believer in reflection of Jesus' sacrifice is for our lives to exalt Him. The words that follow then are ways in which Christ is glorified.

• Do good
• Share with others
• Obey your leaders
• Pray for fellow saints

The connection is ultimately the same connection that has been here all throughout Hebrews. The point is that the reader take their eyes off of themselves and put them upon the Lord. In light of that, their lives are to be lived a particular way. The beautiful part of it all is that if one's eyes are truly set on the Lord, the natural conduct that follows is a righteous lifestyle. Let your eyes be stayed upon Jesus. He is worthy.
