Hebrews 13:1-4 | What am I going to do about it?
27You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to depart into hell.

If there is something worth mentioning concerning sexual immorality, it is that it is not to be taken lightly. It is to be dealt with severely. The consequences are more than we can bear! Look around at our culture and our world. Do you see a world that is thriving? Do you see people being genuinely happy? We have come to need actors to show us what happiness looks like. They live their lives given over to the world on screens, only to come away from the lights and cameras to wallow in their own depression. The pattern that the world has set is not worthwhile. I believe the believer needs to deal with such sin severely. We ought to have no participation in it.
The application I am suggesting here is the severity the Lord had me deal with this sin. In my study concerning sexual immorality for these devotions, I have become even more secure in these.
Jesus talks about plucking out one's eye and cutting off one's hand to deal with such sin. That means the process will hurt. But it is worth it for what comes as a result. I have completely removed social media from my life. I am not on Instagram, X, Tik Tok, or Facebook. Truthfully, I don't even know what other social platforms exist. I cut out all secular music and instead filled my musical sphere with Christian music, which, at the time, I didn't even like. I stopped watching shows and movies that promoted sexual content, even if it was not explicit in showing things. I guarded myself around individuals that delighted in sexual things. Friendships were cut off or limited. Distance was made with family. And in the stead of all of that, time was filled with Jesus.
The pattern of my life breaks down to study of the Word, ministry of the Word, prayer, and creative writing. Time is our most valuable resource, and to invest that in delighting in sexual immorality is entirely counter intuitive to what I am living for.
In case you haven't noticed, I am extremely passionate about this subject. I have seen lives destroyed, marriages ruined, and Christians stuck in repeated habits regarding sexual sin. It is not worth the momentary pleasure. If you struggle in any degree with sexual immorality and would like help getting free from it, talk to a faithful believer about your struggle. It is more common than you think and most believe they are the only ones. Gain accountability. Confess the sin. Repent with a whole heart and cut off the wickedness. It is not too late. You are not too far gone. Jesus is greater than your sin and desires for you to be free from it. He is for you in this battle.
