Hebrews 13:1-4 | What's happening (and who's involved)?

We finally enter into the final chapter of the book of Hebrews. As concluding statements are being made, the writer to the Hebrews gives some final statements concerning conduct and character. This particular section highlights how the believer ought to walk in love.
To begin, he instructs for brotherly love to continue. He is not talking about love between literal brothers, but rather the love that is within believers shared with each other should be the love that brothers have with one another. Those in the family of faith are your family. Love them as such.

Beyond just a brotherly love instruction is given to love even the strangers among them. In an extremely interesting statement, the author highlights that some have unknowingly entertained angels by doing so! Perhaps even more interestingly, the writer to the Hebrews does not expound on that thought any further.

While the above instructions offer love to those in their midst and that they may encounter, the author of Hebrews also instructs to remember those who are in prison for Christ's sake. He also instructs to remember those who are mistreated. But for those in prison, they are to remember them as though they are in prison with them, and for those who are mistreated as though they are receiving the same mistreatment. In other words, weep with those who weep.
 
Lastly, there is a love that is to be held in high esteem. The marriage bed is not to be defiled. The counterfeit of love is lust; something that was dominant in the neighboring Greek cultures. God is going to judge the sexually immoral and the adulterers. It is not something to be trifled with.

These cover the section that we are examining this week, and from it there raises a lot of questions concerning conduct in our modern world. I pray that we may be good recipients and applicants of the lessons found within.
