Hebrews 12:1-2 | What's happening (and who's involved)?

Perspective Perspective Perspective

This week's passage may be short, but it is admittedly one of my all-time favorite sections of Scripture. It is packed with so much spiritual depth and spells out some incredible things about the Gospel for us as well.

In this section, we are guided by the author to look at many different perspectives. We are to consider the great cloud of witnesses that precedes us as an example. We are to identify what is a weight and what is the sin that also acts as a snare. Having drawn our perspective to past and present, he then draws us to look forward at the race before us. Leading us in this race, we are instructed to look unto Jesus. We are encouraged to look upon His suffering, His attitude, the extent to which He raced, and the reward He was given.

All of these perspectives are designed then to encourage us into a fresh perspective that shapes the whole of our own walk in the Lord. This week will challenge us to take these things into proper view as to how the Lord would then have us walk. It continues to blow my own mind, but the perspective we have shapes the very renewing of our minds that Scripture speaks to. I am very excited to be dwelling on this section of Scripture this week.

What observations are you making in this passage?
