John 6:15-21 | What's the lesson for me today?

It can be a frightening thing when we come face to face with the storms of life, trials, tribulations, persecutions, and the like. It can be terrifying to realize the rejection we can have from mankind when we join ourselves together with Christ. For many, the fear of losing what they have causes them to reject Jesus entirely. Hear the words of Jesus and recognize the response of the disciples.

20 But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” 21 Then they willingly received Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.
-John 6:20-21

There is little to no doubt that we are all facing varying degrees of trials. And if you aren't, it is a question of when you will, not if you will. Have you willingly received Jesus in that? I am not asking if you have received Him as Lord and Savior. The disciples were actively the disciples of Jesus. They still had to welcome Him in. You may be seeing Him in ways and places you never thought you would. He may be inviting you to respond to Him in ways you have not before. But as you see it is Jesus, are you willingly receiving Him?

I have found in different seasons of my life that Jesus is just present. In others, I can see that I have lacked willingness to receive Him. The lesson that stands out to me is that I need to be all the more intentional with receiving Him in.

What lesson are you taking for yourself today?
