John 2:1-12 | What's the lesson for me today?

Looking at the examples that are provided for me in this text, I do question in myself if I entrust myself to Him in the way that I see Mary or the servants entrusting themselves. Do I walk in faith the same way that Mary did? She was not asking for Jesus to help her. She was interceding on behalf of those who would bare shame. The servants were not simply acting of their own interest, but out of the interest of their master. Out of the faith and obedience exemplified, we see Jesus working through them in an incredible way. So what should I take from that? I must do the same.

3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.
-2 Timothy 2:3-4

It is my responsibility to please my master and heed His voice. This is even Paul's heart for those churches he was ministering too.

9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God
-Colossians 1:9-10

And what is the result of this?

4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
-John 15:4-5

We see fruitful works being done through Jesus as faith is put into Him and obedience is enacted. We see that shame is cleansed and that He exalts freely. I see the lesson for me today being a simple but often difficult one. Believe and obey.

What lesson are you taking from this?
