What We Believe

"But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance..." - 2 Timothy 3:10

Core Beliefs

Many people like to know more specific and detailed information before visiting a church.  We applaud you for doing your research and want to help make it easy for you.

The Scriptures

We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired of God and that this inspiration is both verbal and plenary, inerrant in the original writings, and that the Scriptures are of supreme and final authority in faith, practice and life.
(I Thessalonians 2:13; II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:21)

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three-person: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
(Matthew 28:19; I Peter 3:18; John 15:26)

Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, and is the only begotten Son of God.
(Colossians 2:9; Luke 1:31,35; John 3:16)

Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God by His direct act and not from previously existing forms of life; that man sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature (sinners in thought, word, and deed).
(Genesis 1:26, 27, 2:7; Romans 3:23, 5:12, 6:23; I Corinthians 15:21)

Salvation

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that all who believe in Him are justified by His shed blood.
(Romans 3:21-26; I Peter 1:18-19, 2:24; Ephesians 1:7, 2:13)

We believe that all who trust in Jesus Christ alone as Savior and Lord are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become the children of God; that they are thereafter indwelled by the Holy Spirit who makes possible a life of personal holiness and a walk of obedience to the will of God; that all who are truly born again are "kept by the power of God" and their salvation is assured.
(John 1:12, 3:3, 6:37-40; Romans 8:5-11; I Peter 1:3-5)

The Resurrection

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, His ascension into heaven, and His present life there for us as High Priest and Advocate, and the only mediator between God and man.
(Mark 16:19; I Corinthians 15:3-4; I Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 4:14-16, 5:1-10; I John 2:1)

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the save, and the everlasting, conscious punishment of the lost.
(II Thessalonians 1:5-10; John 5:29; I Thessalonians 4:13-18)

The Church

We believe Jesus is the head of the church.
(Colossians 1:18)

We believe that the local church is a body of believers organized for worship, work, and fellowship; that the local church is an independent and self-governing body responsible alone to Christ who is its Savior and Lord. The two ordinances of the church are believers Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
(Matthew 28:19; I Corinthians 11:23-26; Philippians 1:1; I Corinthians 11:23-26)

Israel

We believe God's promise concerning the Jewish people and Israel as a nation.  We believe God is faithful to all His eternal covenants and therefore support Israel and its people.
(Genesis 12:3; Ephesians 2:14)

Doctrinal Statement on Marriage

We The Body of Christ called Mountain View Church believe that the sanctification of the believer includes adherence to the practice of moral purity. That sexual intimacy is a wonderful gift of God that is only to be expressed between one man and one woman (as genetically defined and originally born through God’s Sovereign plan for each individual), within the love and bonds of marriage sacredly vowed by one man and one women (Gen 2:24-25; Matthew 19:4-6; 1Corinthians7:3-5; Hebrews 13:4). Therefore, we believe that any other form of sexual intimacy is both immoral and a perversion of God’s design and gift (Leviticus 18:1-30; Proverbs 6:32; 1Corinthians 6:18; Romans 1:26-27; 1Thessalonians 4:3-8).
